Dorothy Schill 1929-2008

I am dedicating this year's walk to my mom, Dorothy, who passed away from a stroke in February. She was always so supportive of my efforts with the Arthritis Foundation and I miss her a lot.

Once again I am taking on a personal challenge to make a difference by participating in the Arthritis Foundation’s Arthritis Walk® on September 27th. This has become an annual event for me to help support and promote arthritis education and research. In addition, I have accepted the challenge of volunteering as the overall Volunteer Coordinator for this event. Let me know if you can help us out as a volunteer!

Why do I walk?
I walk in honor of my friends and colleagues who face the daily challenge of living with arthritis. I walk in memory of my father, Jerry, who passed away in 1993 from an arthritis related disease. I walk because I CAN! As selfish as it sounds, I also walk for myself. My diagnosis has blessed and changed my life in ways I would never have expected and, in a (very) strange sort of way I am thankful for that. I am happy to share my story with you if you ask.
